Project Deliverables
The Justurbanities Project delivers a comprehensive suite of outputs designed to empower urban communities and foster resilience. These deliverables span digital tools, interactive workshops, and documentation, ensuring a sustainable and scalable impact across Europe.
Interactive Digital Platform and Map of Stakeholders
A centerpiece of the project is the development of a digital game and a curriculum which would be published on the robust digital platform, designed to act as both a repository and an engagement hub for participants. The platform provides access to a wide array of resources, including gamified tools, learning modules, and documentation of project activities. Additionally, the platform features an interactive map of stakeholders, which catalogs over 50 individuals and organizations engaged in the project. This map is categorized by expertise, geographic region, and relevance, allowing users to identify and connect with stakeholders effectively. By offering continuous updates and facilitating real-time engagement, the platform ensures sustainability and adaptability well beyond the project’s lifecycle.
Gamified Curriculum
The gamified curriculum, a cornerstone of the Justurbanities Project, is among its most innovative outputs, blending education with engaging, interactive elements. At its core is an online game, a central feature of the curriculum and a standout project deliverable, designed to immerse users in realistic urban scenarios. This curriculum introduces participatory tools and exercises that simulate real-world urban challenges. Designed to be adaptable, it provides educators, municipal employees, and community leaders with the means to tackle issues such as crisis response, resilience building, and collaborative governance. The curriculum also includes a suite of training materials, such as facilitator guides and multimedia tutorials, to support its seamless implementation. By using gamification principles, the curriculum enhances engagement and fosters a deeper understanding of complex urban dynamics.
Community of Practice Conferences
To build a cohesive network of stakeholders, the project organizes three Community of Practice (CoP) conferences over its duration. These annual online gatherings serve as a platform for sharing knowledge, discussing project progress, and exploring themes critical to urban resilience. Each conference focuses on a distinct topic:
- Needs and Future Insights: Addressing urban challenges and envisioning potential solutions.
- Gamification and Prototyping: Sharing expertise in game design and participatory learning methodologies.
- Sustainability and Replicability: Developing strategies to scale and adapt project outcomes across diverse contexts.
To extend the reach of these discussions, the conferences are complemented by podcasts that summarize key takeaways, making them accessible to a broader audience.
4. Storytelling Videos and Podcasts
Recognizing the power of storytelling, Justurbanities incorporates multimedia to amplify the voices of its participants. Seven storytelling videos, each approximately three minutes long, are produced to highlight the experiences of local stakeholders and their contributions to the project. These videos provide an intimate glimpse into the challenges and successes encountered by communities involved in the initiative. In addition to the videos, three podcasts are created to complement the Community of Practice conferences. These podcasts not only capture the essence of the discussions but also engage a wider audience by presenting key insights in an accessible audio format.
5. Case Studies and Sustainability Plan
A key output of the project is a set of detailed case studies documenting best practices, challenges, and successful implementations across partner regions. These case studies serve as valuable references for policymakers, educators, and community leaders looking to replicate the project’s approaches in other contexts. Alongside this, the project develops a comprehensive sustainability plan, co-designed and endorsed by all partners. This plan outlines clear strategies for the continued use and development of the project’s tools and resources, ensuring their relevance and impact beyond the project’s official timeline.
Multiplier Events and Workshops
Workshops and events are central to the Justurbanities approach, serving as platforms for engagement, collaboration, and co-creation at every level of the project.
Future Search Workshops
At the heart of the project’s community engagement efforts are the Future Search workshops. These participatory events bring together stakeholders to identify local needs, challenges, and priorities. Using collaborative scenario-building techniques, participants work collectively to envision future possibilities and align on actionable solutions. The insights gathered during these workshops play a pivotal role in shaping the gamified curriculum and digital tools.
Game Jams
The project emphasizes creativity and co-creation through Game Jams—interactive workshops where participants design and prototype gamified learning tools. These events foster collaboration among educators, municipal workers, and community members, resulting in innovative and context-specific solutions. Feedback from these sessions informs the refinement of the gamified curriculum and ensures its relevance to real-world challenges.
Prototyping and Testing Sessions
To ensure the effectiveness and usability of the curriculum and tools, the project conducts extensive prototyping and testing sessions. Educators, municipal staff, and local stakeholders participate in these hands-on workshops, providing critical feedback that is incorporated into the final versions of the tools. This iterative approach guarantees that the deliverables are user-friendly, impactful, and adaptable.
Local Multiplier Events
The culmination of the project’s efforts is showcased during Local Multiplier Events, held in each partner location. These community-focused events provide an opportunity to present the project’s outputs, including the gamified curriculum and digital tools. Designed to foster dialogue, these events bring together local stakeholders, NGOs, policymakers, and community members to explore how the tools can be implemented and scaled in diverse contexts.
Community of Practice Conferences
The Community of Practice conferences are a recurring feature of the project, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange among stakeholders. Held annually, these online gatherings provide a space to discuss key themes such as gamification, sustainability, and urban adaptability. By engaging a transnational network of experts and practitioners, these conferences ensure that the project’s impact extends beyond its immediate community.
